Vent: I argued with my foreman about the new sand additive for a week straight

He made me run a test pour with it on a big gearbox job in Erie last Tuesday, and the surface finish was way cleaner. Anyone else had to eat their words over a new material lately?

Is it really that big a deal? You tried something new and it worked out fine. Sounds like a normal week on the job to me.

Sounds like a pretty expensive way to be wrong.

Honestly @finley_price24 I gotta push back a little on that. It is a big deal when you spend a whole week arguing with your foreman about something and then it ends up working better. That's not normal, that's a learning moment disguised as a pain in the ass. But yeah, the test pour on a gearbox in Erie, that's a pretty specific and high-stakes job to prove it on. Most of us would rather be wrong about something like this on a simpler part first, not a big production piece where failure means a lot of rework.
