I used to think cold email was a total waste of time for finding freelance work

I mean, I was sending maybe 10 a week for a month with no replies and felt like an idiot. Then I spent a day in a coffee shop in Austin and rewrote my whole pitch to focus on one specific problem I saw on a company's site, and sent 5 that afternoon. I got two replies and one turned into a $1,800 project. What's a better way to find good leads without feeling spammy?

What took me so long to get it?

Exactly. That's the same shift from asking for a job to just fixing a thing. I see it when someone at the store points out a broken shelf instead of asking to be a stocker. You stopped saying "hire me" and just showed you already did part of the work.

Totally! That's such a good point, @taylor_miller10. It's way better to just solve a small problem they have than to ask for a chance to solve it.
