Load boards are a game changer for cutting out deadhead miles. You can plan your whole week instead of just hoping for a call. It puts control back in your hands.

Control is nice but you're trading one problem for another. Those boards let you fill deadhead miles but they also drop your rates way down since everyone sees the same loads. Better to run a mix of board freight and direct customers so you're not at the mercy of either.

But what about the rates? Load boards flooded the market. Now everyone fights over cheap freight.

Yeah I tried load boards for about three months and honestly it felt like gambling. One week you get a solid run and the next you're staring at cheap loads nobody wants. I went back to working with a couple brokers I trust and my income actually got more predictable.
