Mixed some leftover shellac with a bit of boiled linseed oil on a whim

I was cleaning up the shop and had maybe a quarter cup of old amber shellac left, so I added a splash of BLO to see if it would help with a sticky drawer slide. It didn't just lubricate it, it left this really nice, subtle sheen on the maple that I wasn't expecting at all. Has anyone else ever messed around with a shellac and oil blend like that, and what did you use it for?

You used leftover shellac? That stuff goes bad fast.

My old can lasted three years in the fridge.

Seriously? It's just paint. If it's sealed up tight, it's probably fine to use.
