Found my first e-reader while cleaning the attic.
It's a basic model from ten years ago. I read its original review and was surprised by how excited everyone was. Do you feel early reviews miss some long-term issues?

Yeah, reviews skip the future.
You mentioned how excited everyone was in the original review. Early reviews only care about what's new. They never talk about the battery swelling after a few years. Or how software updates make old devices slow. My first e-reader's screen got dim and useless. That stuff never makes it into the first looks.

Ever notice how every laptop review acts like the battery will stay perfect forever? Mine puffed up like a pillow after two years. They never tell you that part.

Totally agree they never talk about the long term stuff. It's all about the shiny new features and how fast it is out of the box. But you're right, the real cost is when the battery dies or an update bricks it in year three. That initial excitement in a review means nothing if the device becomes a paperweight. We buy these things to use for years, but reviews act like we throw them out in twelve months. They should track some old gadgets and tell us how they actually held up.
