My balcony lights now turn on at dusk thanks to a simple sensor review

Saw a post about outdoor light sensors and decided to try one. Evenings are so much nicer now.

Totally get that, @williamm82. It does feel like magic, but it's just a cheap photocell sensor. The best part is never fumbling for a switch in the dark. You just get home and the place is already welcoming. It's one of those small upgrades that fixes a daily minor annoyance (we all have them). Really simple tech that just makes life a bit smoother.

How is that still magic to you? Nathan492 already explained the whole photocell thing (which is basically just a sun detective for your porch). It's not like the lights are guessing your mood or anything, they just notice when it gets dark. Honestly, the real magic is not tripping over your own feet trying to find the switch. But yeah, it does feel a bit like living in the future, in a cheap sci-fi movie kind of way.
