Pro tip: Don't trust a 5-star review for a $30 phone gimbal from a brand you've never heard of.
I bought one last month based on a bunch of glowing reviews, and the motor started making a grinding noise after about three uses. It's basically a paperweight now. What's a reliable budget brand for this kind of gear?

Yeah, piperm38 is right about Zhiyun being a safe bet. Their stuff isn't the absolute cheapest, but you're paying for a motor that won't eat itself. I learned the hard way that those five-star reviews for weird brands are often paid for or just fake. It's worth checking used markets too, a lot of people sell their slightly older Zhiyun or DJI Osmo models for about the same price as a new knockoff. That gets you proven hardware without the gamble.

Totally agree about the fake reviews... saw a video where someone bought ten of those weird brand gimbals and eight had the same broken motor issue. @piperm38 has a point about their cheaper models too, my friend's Crane M2 has been dropped so many times and still works fine somehow.
