Why gadget review scores are mostly useless to me now

Personal experience beats any number rating.

Ever try looking for reviews from people who use the thing the exact same way you will? I got burned on a vacuum that had great scores until I realized all the reviews were from people in apartments. Once I searched for "vacuum for old house with pets" the real useful opinions popped up.

Totally get that. I bought a blender with perfect scores, but it couldn't handle my morning smoothie at all. Felt like such a waste.

When you say it couldn't handle your smoothie, what exactly gave out? (The motor or the blades?)
