My ferry mix-up in Greece led me to a secret beach town I loved

That's the best part about travel plans going wrong, you often stumble upon places the guidebooks miss. Those hidden spots have a quiet charm the crowded tourist hubs just can't match. I'd be tempted to keep a find like that to myself, too.

I spent a week in Positano last summer and totally get where john650 is coming from. Sometimes that crowded energy with great food and music IS the whole point.

Disagree completely with @noah_brown. Those secret towns usually have one bad taverna and zero nightlife. I'd rather be on a famous beach in Santorini with great bars and smooth sand than a "charming" rocky cove with just stray cats. Sometimes the crowded spots are popular for a good reason, they simply offer more to do. A wrong ferry sounds like a good way to waste a precious vacation day.
