Noticed something about the whole 'butterfly garden' trend clients keep asking for

A woman begged for one last spring, and now she's calling me weekly because rabbits are treating her perennial buffet like an all-you-can-eat salad bar. We're quietly adding some low-profile wire fencing she'll never notice, but it's a funny lesson in unintended consequences.

Honestly, rabbits treating butterfly gardens as a salad bar is why I always suggest hidden fencing upfront. Tbh, even with that, mixing in rabbit-resistant plants like catmint along the perimeter helps a ton. Ngl, learning to anticipate the wildlife is half the battle in landscape design.

Have you considered that we might be accidentally designing the most exclusive rabbit restaurants in town? It's always the same story, where the butterfly buffet becomes a bunny bonanza overnight. That low-profile fencing is a slick move, though I've found that once they get a taste, they become regulars who aren't fooled by much. Perhaps we should include a disclaimer, 'May attract more lagomorphs than lepidoptera.'
