I put in a smart thermostat last fall after reading about them here. It took a bit to set up, but now it adjusts the temperature when I'm out. Last month, my power bill was lower than expected. I checked the data, and it saved about 15% on heating. This feels like a real win for my wallet and the planet. I'm thinking of adding more smart home gear for efficiency. Remember that casino hack a few years back where they got in through a smart fish tank thermometer? It's the same tech. These gadgets connect to your home network. If you don't update the software or use a weak password, you're basically leaving a digital window open. Your heating schedule could be the least of your worries.
