The $200 parking ticket that made me a fan of the parking app
I spent 6 months in Austin refusing to use that pay-by-phone app, swore it was a scam to drain my battery and wallet. Then I got a $200 ticket because I misread the meter sign and the app would've shown the time limit. Has anyone else converted to a system they hated after it saved them from a dumber mistake?
I had the same thing happen with the app that tells you when the street sweeper is coming. For two years I wrote the schedule on my hand like some kind of cave person and got three tickets because the city kept changing the days. A coworker showed me the app, I rolled my eyes, then I tried it and it sends a warning the night before. Saved me 150 bucks the very first month. Now I use it for everything, even stuff I swore I would never trust a phone to do. Sometimes the dumb way of doing things just costs more than our pride is worth.
