A user testing my AI chat tool said my responses felt too robotic, so I rewrote the whole personality layer

Last month I was working on this chatbot for a small business site, and I thought it was pretty good. But a beta tester told me it read like a press release from 2015, cold and repetitive. I had to go back and inject some actual conversational fillers and varied sentence lengths. Now I let it use contractions and even throw in a friendly 'hmm' or 'right?' when it makes sense. Traffic went up 40% in the first week after the change. Has anyone else gotten brutal feedback that forced a total rewrite of their AI prompt structure?

Oh wow, that's a great example of listening to feedback and actually improving something.

Honestly I feel personally attacked by the "press release from 2015" line haha.
