I finally saw my AI art model start glitching in real time
I was sitting in my apartment last Tuesday messing with a custom Stable Diffusion model I'd trained on 300 landscape photos. Everything looked fine at first, generating nice sunset scenes for about 20 minutes. Then around generation 42, the sky started turning into this weird green static pattern that spread across the whole image. Turns out I had accidentally set the learning rate too high and the model was overcorrecting itself into nonsense. I killed the process, dropped the rate from 0.001 to 0.0001, and retrained overnight. Has anyone else had training runs just go totally off the rails like that?

Buddy of mine had a model start generating nothing but melted clocks.

Is this really that dramatic or were you just expecting too much from a quick test run?
