I lost $400 on a 'smart' AI writing tool that just copied old blog posts
I signed up for a yearly plan with WriteGenius last fall, thinking it would help me create fresh content. Turns out, the tool was mostly just rewording stuff from articles that were already online, and I got a copyright notice from a client. I had to scrap the whole project and pay for a real writer to fix it. Has anyone found an AI tool that actually makes new ideas and doesn't just recycle?

Read the terms of service" is a bit harsh, @grace607. The real problem is tools selling a promise they can't keep. I've seen good ones that actually brainstorm, but you have to test them with small jobs first.

Yeah, "test them with small jobs first" is key. I always run a new tool through a plagiarism checker on a free trial before paying. Also, ask it to write about a super niche topic you know well. If it gives you generic junk, it's just repackaging.
