My old text generator model completely failed on a client project last month
I was using a GPT-2 fine-tune I built back in 2020 for a small marketing client in Portland. It started outputting pure nonsense halfway through generating 50 product descriptions. I had to scramble and rewrite everything by hand over a weekend to meet the deadline. Has anyone else had an older custom model just fall apart like that recently?

Oh man, that sounds like a total nightmare weekend. My condolences to your sleep schedule. Wendy391 might be onto something with the stale data idea, but honestly it just sounds like your GPT-2 fine-tune finally embraced its inner abstract poet. "The ergonomic chair whispers to the moon about supply chain issues" is not a great product description, lmao. You went from marketing copy to weird fan fiction real fast.

Could it be your training data went stale? I had a model trained on 2021 news articles that started calling current politicians by old cabinet titles. The world changed but the model's knowledge was frozen. Maybe your client's products or brand voice shifted since 2020, and now the old patterns don't fit the new reality.
