PSA: A new AI tool just helped me map out a massive tree root system in under an hour

Last week, I was bidding on a job to remove a huge oak in Seattle that was threatening a foundation. The usual method is to dig around it, which takes a full day just to see what you're dealing with. I saw a demo for a new AI that analyzes ground-penetrating radar data. We rented the gear, ran it over the lawn, and the software built a 3D model of the root ball in about 50 minutes. It showed a major root running right under a gas line we would have hit. Has anyone else used something like this for survey work or similar planning jobs?

That's the kind of tech that makes gear talk, like @wendy391 mentioned, actually matter for real work.

That's wild. How much did it cost to rent the gear?

Honestly, who cares about the price. It's just gear. People act like you need a full film crew setup to make a decent video these days. My phone camera works fine for pretty much everything. Seems like a flex more than a real need.
