Thought AI transcriptions were overhyped until it nailed my grandma's thick accent on a 40 year old tape
My mom found a old cassette from 1984 of my grandma telling stories in her heavy Sicilian accent. We could barely understand half of it. I tried a free AI transcription tool just to see, figured it would be garbage. It got like 90 percent of the words right and even caught phrases I never understood as a kid. My mom cried when she read the part about her childhood dog. That was the moment I stopped rolling my eyes at AI stuff. I always thought these tools were just for lazy students or something. But this did something no human in my family could do anymore since grandma passed in 2009. Now I'm wondering what else I've been wrong about. Anyone got a AI tool that surprised them like this?
