Air fryer basket handle gave out mid-shake

Was making some frozen chicken wings last night at around 8pm. Went to shake the basket like I always do and the handle just snapped right off. Dropped half the wings onto the counter and floor. Had to fish the rest out with tongs and finish them in the regular oven. Anyone else have a handle fail on them like that?

Whoa, that's rough. I actually wonder if the batch of wings themselves might be part of it. Like if they were frozen together in a big clump and you gave it a harder yank than usual while the handle was already worn down. That extra force from shaking a heavy, stuck-together load could snap a weak point faster than just loose pieces would.

...and the handle just snapped off mid air? That's wild, I've never seen one break like that before. My air fryer handle feels pretty solid but now I'm definitely going to be more careful when I shake it from now on. Did the handle look cracked at all before it happened or was it totally out of nowhere?

I actually read something last week about how the plastic on some air fryer handles gets brittle over time from the heat cycles, especially if you leave the basket sitting on the counter while it's still hot. A guy on a home repair forum was saying those snap-on handles are the worst and the screw-in ones hold up way longer. Mine's never given me trouble but I've started letting it cool down a bit before I even touch the handle now.
