Hot take: I was wrong about air frying frozen fries

My neighbor in Denver said he always sprays his frozen fries with a little oil before putting them in the air fryer. I thought that defeated the purpose, but I tried it last night with a bag of store-brand crinkles. They came out so much crispier and more golden, not pale and dry like mine usually do. It was just a quick mist from a spray bottle. Does anyone else do this, or have another trick for frozen potatoes?

My buddy swore by that trick (he even uses a little garlic salt in his oil spray). Total game changer for the texture, honestly.

Absolutely, that little oil spray is a total game changer. My fries used to come out like sad little sticks until I tried it. Now they actually taste like they're supposed to.
