Just realized my friend's 'air fryer chicken' is just baked chicken with extra steps
I was at her place in Seattle and watched her make it, and she just put plain chicken breasts in for 25 minutes with no oil or seasoning. It came out dry and sad, and she said 'that's just how it is.' Is anyone else tired of people not even trying to use their air fryer right?

My cousin in Portland does the same thing with salmon. The real problem is all the recipe blogs that call it "air frying" when they just mean baking a single piece of meat. It creates this idea that the machine does all the work. A little oil and some basic seasoning would have saved that chicken.

Ugh, that's just baking with a fan. The whole point is the quick, high heat that needs a light coat of oil to work right. Without it, you're just drying out the food in a tiny oven. A quick spray and some salt would make a world of difference.

Read a food science article that explained how oil helps with heat transfer. The fan just moves hot air, but a thin layer of oil actually cooks the surface faster and better. That's why skipping it makes everything come out dry and sad.
