My air fryer chicken thighs went from dry leather to juicy perfection after I stopped preheating it for 5 minutes

I saw the before-and-after difference in just one week after a friend told me to skip the preheat and put them in cold, and now I get that crispy skin without losing all the moisture, has anyone else tried skipping the warm-up cycle?

Wait, so you're telling me my 5 minutes of staring at an empty hot air fryer like it owes me money was all for nothing? I tried skipping the preheat last week after reading a random reddit comment and now my chicken thighs are so good they're starting to get jealous of each other. Super crisp on the outside, still juicy inside without that sad dry chew that makes you question every life choice you've ever made. Might have to unfollow my air fryer manual on principle now. That thing lied straight to my face.

Respectfully disagree. Preheating is what gets you that crispy exterior, putting them in cold just steams the skin first.
