My air fryer turned into a smoke bomb over frozen dumplings

Three days ago I tossed a bag of frozen potstickers in at 400 degrees without reading the package, and within four minutes the kitchen looked like a campfire. The wrapper sugars charred instantly while the filling stayed raw, which is a combo I didn't know was possible until my smoke detector went off at 6:45 AM. I've owned this thing since last March and thought I had the timing down, but frozen food with sticky coatings needs a lower temp and a flip at the halfway mark for sure. Has anyone found a reliable method for gyoza or spring rolls that doesn't end with you waving a dish towel around like a lunatic?

6:45 AM smoke detector is the official wake-up call of people who don't read instructions. 400 degrees on anything with sugar in the name is just asking for a fire alarm remix. I do 350 for frozen gyoza, spray the basket with oil first, and flip them at 8 minutes. Still tastes great, just without the whole house smelling like a burnt apology.
