My frozen french fries went from soggy to perfect in about 8 months
Honestly, for the first few months I had my air fryer, I just dumped the bag in and set it to 400. They always came out kinda limp and pale. Then last month, I saw a tip online to soak them in hot water for 10 minutes and pat them dry first. Tbh, that extra step makes the outside so crispy now, it's like a different food. Has anyone else tried this trick with other frozen stuff, like onion rings?

Oh wow, that soaking trick is a game changer! I tried it with frozen hash brown patties and they got insanely crispy too.

My old roommate used to toss frozen fries straight from the bag into a hot cast iron pan with a little oil. The sizzle and steam from the ice crystals actually helped them crisp up fast.

That steam trick is smart, but it only works if your pan is screaming hot. If the oil isn't hot enough, the ice just makes everything soggy. I learned that the hard way with frozen onion rings. They turned into a greasy, limp mess. You gotta wait for the oil to shimmer almost like it's smoking.
