Rant: My broccoli turned to ash in the air fryer last night.

I followed a recipe for crispy broccoli, but it burned in minutes. Any tips on timing for different veggies?

Broccoli is tricky because the florets burn so fast. I set my air fryer to 375 for most veggies. Brussels sprouts take about 12 minutes, but broccoli only needs maybe 7 or 8. Always check a few minutes before the recipe says. Carrots and potatoes are more forgiving, they can handle the full time.

Those florets are sneaky little fire starters. I found that tossing them with a tiny bit of oil and keeping the temp at 350 works better. Cauliflower is just as bad, it goes from raw to burnt in seconds. Sweet potato cubes need a lower heat too, or they get crispy outside and hard inside. Honestly, most air fryer times are just suggestions from people who like their food extra crunchy.

Actually, burning veggies is kinda the goal with an air fryer lmao. Who wants steamed broccoli when you can have crispy char?

Isn't everyone maybe being too careful? I blast everything at 400 and my veggies come out fine. I mean, for stuff like asparagus or zucchini, high heat gets that good char without making it soggy. Even bell peppers can handle it if you cut them thick. I see what @nancythomas says about 350, but that just steams things in my experience. You gotta commit to the high heat and just shake the basket a lot more.
