A helper on a job in Tulsa told me my keypad heights were all over the place
I used to just eye up every keypad, whatever felt right next to the door frame. A guy helping me on a 3 bedroom house in Tulsa watched me do two of them and said plain as day, 'pick one height and stick with it, my grandma could reach that one and my nephew needs a ladder for the other.' He pulled out his tape and showed me 48 inches to center, and now I mark every box at 48 before I cut in. Takes me an extra 30 seconds per keypad but callbacks about 'the pad is too low' are just gone. Anyone else got a fixed number they swear by, or do you change it up for kids and wheelchairs?
