DSC vs Honeywell on the same job site, one came out way ahead

Last month I wired up a two story house in Portland with a DSC panel and wireless contacts, then the owner wanted a basement suite added with Honeywell stuff because his buddy swore by it. Two different ecosystems in one place felt like a hassle but I figured it was fine since each zone had its own panel. The DSC side paired sensors in maybe 20 minutes, no drama. The Honeywell panel took over an hour to enroll the same number of zones, and one key fob kept dropping off every time we tested the alarm. I finally called support and they said the firmware needed an update that required a USB stick, which I never carry. Has anyone else run into this mixing brands on one site, or do you stick with one manufacturer for everything just to keep the headaches low?
