Got a call from a client in the suburbs last month about a motion sensor that kept going off for no reason.

Read somewhere that spiders can set off motion sensors if they build webs right in front of the lens. Might be worth checking for that. Seems like the most common false alarm after bad placement.

Disagree with that take, honestly. Spiders are a problem, sure, but in my experience, the absolute king of false alarms is a pet. A cat or dog wandering into frame at 2 AM will trigger a sensor way more often than a tiny web. You're right to check the placement like @emery199 said, but I'd look at pet settings first if you have animals. Those things are never set right out of the box.

You're right about pets being a big issue, but I've had the opposite happen. My pet settings are dialed in, but a spider built a web right over the sensor like @emery199 mentioned. It set off alarms for three nights straight until I found it. That tiny web caused way more trouble than my dog ever has. Ever had a bug cause that much chaos?
