Just learned most home security systems are still using 2G cellular modules

Found out from a teardown video that over 60% of residential alarm panels still run on 2G networks even though AT&T and T-Mobile sunset those years ago - has anyone else been stuck replacing a whole panel because of this?

Hey @king.aaron, were you the one who hit the snooze button on that upgrade for like a decade or what? I swear half the alarm companies are still riding that 2G wave like it's free data. At this point I'm half expecting my grandpa's old flip phone to start sending my security alerts.

Those 2G modules should've been replaced years ago, honestly.

Oh I don't know, seems like people are making a bigger deal out of this than it really is... those old systems have been working fine for years for a lot of folks. If it ain't broke, why rush to replace it, you know? Plus half those new modules probably come with some subscription fee nobody asked for.
