Keypad started ghosting after a storm last month

Went to a service call yesterday where the client's keypad was putting up random zone numbers every few minutes. Turned out lightning nearby fried the main board but not the keypads. Anyone had luck just replacing the board or should I tell them to budget for a whole new panel?

Seen that exact thing after a storm last summer, board swap fixed it nine times out of ten. Tell em to just replace the board and save the cash unless the keypad starts acting up too.

Yeah I read something about that same thing, some forum post about surge damage messing with the memory on those boards even when the power strip looks fine. Weather does weird stuff to electronics that you can't always see right away. Plus if it's the board, the keypad usually keeps working normal until the whole thing just gives out one day. That's the trap, it lulls you into thinking it's fine then bam, dead mid-cycle. Better to swap it before you're stuck with a pile of wet laundry and a service call.
