Swapped to a wired keypad after fighting with wireless for 3 years

I had this one house where the wireless keypad kept dropping signal on the master bedroom door. Replaced batteries, moved the receiver, nothing worked. Finally ran a 4-conductor wire through the attic and hardwired it. Took me about 2 hours one Saturday and the thing has been solid for 8 months now. Anybody else hit a point where they just ditched wireless on a problem job?

Right, because who doesn't love a good 2-hour attic crawl just to make a door work?

So did you end up finding anything weird up there, @richard_anderson? Like old wiring or mouse droppings that made the job even worse. I swear every attic crawl I've done has some hidden nightmare waiting. Did the door at least work after all that? Or was it one of those things where you fix one problem and create three more.
