The tamper switch that screamed at 3 AM in a dentist's office

Last Tuesday I was swapping a panel in a dentist office off Route 9 and the old motion sensor cover popped loose, so the thing went into full alarm at 3 AM while the doc was still in there doing paperwork. The customer ran out holding a drill like a weapon and I had to calm him down before I could even reach the keypad. Has anyone else had a zone that just gives up after a battery swap, or did I just get lucky with a dying reed switch?
