Why I finally stopped putting sensors in the ceiling corners
For 6 years I ran wires to ceiling corners on every job, thought that was the only way to get good coverage. Then last month a customer in Austin had their cat knock a motion sensor loose and it landed on a shelf at 6 feet off the ground. I left it there just to test it, and the detection range was actually better than my usual corner mount in that room. Now I'm testing 4 jobs with sensors at head height or lower, and two of the customers said false alarms dropped because the pets don't trip it as much. Has anyone else tried mounting sensors away from the standard spots and seen different results?

That cat knock test is honestly kind of brilliant, accidental or not.
