Serious question, do we blend or cut at the seams on a quarter panel swap?
Had a guy from the body shop down on 5th bring his truck in last week after another shop quoted him $1,400 for a rear quarter. He told me they planned to cut the old panel off at the factory seams instead of blending it, and he wanted a second opinion before he paid. Part of me gets it, seams are cleaner and you keep the factory corrosion coating intact, but a good blend saves the whole panel and a lot of grinding. So which side are you on, cut it at the seam or blend it in? And does the answer change once the truck is past 10 years old with rust starting at the wheel arch?
