Showerthought: Are we wasting cash on paint thickness gauges?
I dropped $300 on a high-end paint thickness gauge thinking it'd save me from botched jobs, but half the time I just eyeball it anyway and get the same result. On the flip side, a buddy of mine got burned for $400 on a cheap gadget that gave him false readings on a BMW 3-series. So is it worth the splurge or is it all marketing hype? How do you guys decide when to trust the meter over your gut?
