Stopped at a salvage yard in Tulsa and spotted a trick with frame pullers

I was grabbing a door off a wrecked F-150 at a yard outside Tulsa last week and noticed the owner had this homemade setup for pulling frames. He clamped a chain to the inner rail and used a hydraulic ram against the floor, then shimmed it with blocks to spread the load. Idk if it's safe long term but it worked on a bent front clip in like 20 minutes. Has anyone else seen backyard rigs that actually hold up better than some shop tools?
