Watching a guy in a Milwaukee shop fix a dent with a heat gun and a can of air changed how I handle plastic bumpers forever.

He heated the backside of a polypropylene bumper cover for about 90 seconds, then hit it with the compressed air upside down to freeze it, and the dent just popped right out without cracking the paint.

My old Civic had a dent just like that. I tried the heat gun trick but used a bag of ice instead of the canned air. It worked okay but left a weird ripple in the plastic. Getting the temp change right is the tricky part.

Skip the ice, canned air gets cold enough without shocking the plastic.

How many times have I just accepted a dent like that as permanent? That's a brilliant trick with the heat and cold. I've got a heat gun sitting in my garage that's only ever been used for stripping paint. Guess I need to go find a dent to practice on now.
