Found an old AIM chat log from 2003 and cringed so hard

I was going through some old hard drives last weekend and stumbled on a saved AIM conversation with my high school crush where I used 'lol' after every single sentence. Reading it back, I realized I basically sounded like a broken robot trying way too hard to be chill. Has anyone else found old digital proof of their awkward teen years and wanted to delete it from existence?

That part about sounding like a broken robot trying too hard to be chill really hit me. I used to think saving those old chats was a good way to keep memories alive, but reading mine back from 2004 made me realize I was just cringing at my own desperate attempts to seem cool. Now I honestly think deleting that digital proof is probably the healthiest thing you can do for your own sanity.

Flip the script a little here and consider that holding onto those cringey chats might actually help you spot how much you've grown. Your 20-years-ago self was just doing their best with the tools they had, and deleting that history can sometimes delete the reminder that you're not that person anymore. Having the old stuff around lets you look back and think "wow, I really leveled up" instead of just pretending those awkward years never happened.
