I finally fixed the squeak in my truck, took 5 trips to the shop over 3 weeks
So here is the debate: should a mechanic tell you upfront that chasing a mystery noise could take forever, or is it fine for them to just keep charging you each visit until they find it? I went to a shop on Highway 9 in Everett because of a squeak in my 2012 Tacoma, and after 5 visits spread across 3 weeks and around $340 in parts that were not the problem, it turned out to be a $12 sway bar bushing. My buddy says I should have demanded a refund, but another friend says that is just how diagnosis works and I should let it go. What is the rule here, do you pay for every wrong guess or should the shop eat the cost once they finally find it?
