I found out the "lick the spoon" trick for cookie dough actually stops you from eating half the batch.
I used to sneak bites every time I made cookies and end up with a dozen instead of three dozen. Then I tried licking the spoon and spatula right when I'm done mixing and it weirdly killed the urge to keep snacking. Has this happened to anyone else or is my brain just broken?

Oh man, this is 100% me. I used to stand there eating dough until my stomach hurt, but now I make a point of licking the beater and that's it. My brain just switches off the snack mode after that, weirdest thing. Your brain's not broken, trust me.

Honestly @paul286, the beater lick is like a secret handshake for bakers who've finally figured out their limits. I've got three kids and a stand mixer that gets used at least twice a week, and that one little ritual saved me from so many sugar comas. My brain treats the batter on that beater like a finish line, so once it's clean, the whole baking project is officially done in my head. It's wild how such a small habit can reprogram your cravings like that.
