My $60 'weatherproof' jacket that failed during a drizzle walk

Bought this cheap jacket from a discount rack (thought I was being smart, you know?) the tag said waterproof but within 5 minutes of light rain my shirt was completely soaked through. Has anyone else fallen for those fake waterproof claims or was I just naive about the price being too good?

Grabbed a cheap wax coating kit off Amazon and that fixed mine right up.

...you used a wax coating kit from Amazon and that actually worked? I've seen those things in my recommended for months and always assumed they were just snake oil in a spray can. I tried one of those "miracle" ceramic coatings from a no-name brand once and it just made my car look streaky and weird. How long has it been holding up with the wax kit? Because my paint has been looking awful lately and I'm desperate but I'm also cheap.
