My brother called me out for always talking over people at dinner last Sunday.
He said 'you never let anyone finish a sentence' and I sat there replaying every conversation I've had in the last 6 months. Has anyone else had a relative drop a truth bomb that made you cringe at your own behavior?

Yo @elliotm70, did you ever catch yourself doing it again when you get too excited?

My sister did this to me about 3 years ago at a Christmas party. She said "you know when you interrupt people and finish their stories? It makes you look like you think your version is better." I honestly had no idea I was doing it. I started paying attention and realized I was cutting people off left and right, especially when I was excited about the topic. The cringe part for me was how many times I'd done it without even noticing, like a bad habit on autopilot. Took me a solid 8 months of actively shutting my mouth and counting to 3 before I'd speak to get it under control. Still slip up sometimes, your mileage may vary but the awareness alone is a big step.
