My grandmother asked me why I 'type with my thumbs' and it hit me how fast tech has changed

She said 'you kids never talk anymore' and I realized I haven't had a real phone conversation in maybe 3 years, just texts and DMs, which got me thinking about all the awkward silences I used to have on actual calls back in high school.

Ask her if she remembers how much she used to complain about the phone ringing during dinner or her shows.

Girl I went through the EXACT same thing with my own mother! She would cut off calls mid-sentence if my dad walked in the door during dinner. Now that we all have cell phones she genuinely forgets that she used to HATE interruptions during her favorite shows. What worked for me was gently reminding her with a funny voice call about the old days. Like "Remember when you'd yell at me for calling during 'Murder She Wrote'?" It makes her laugh every time and she stops fussing. Just make sure you keep it lighthearted so she doesn't feel attacked.

Wait, isn't that just how parents work though? They make up rules for us but somehow forget they ever existed. Kinda funny how that selective memory kicks in.
