My phone decided to die right in the middle of a work video call

It was Tuesday morning and I was giving a project update when the screen just went black. I had to borrow my roommate's laptop to log back in and say my phone broke, which felt super unprofessional. Has anyone else had tech fail at the worst possible time?

That's the worst, had my tablet overheat during a client pitch once. Keep a cheap backup charger in your bag, it's saved me a few times. @viola_ward gets it, the real fix is getting proper gear from work. Until then, a power bank is a solid band-aid.

Honestly, the real problem is how we're all expected to be available on any device at any time. It's not just a tech fail, it's a work culture fail. My company acts like my personal phone is part of their supplied equipment, but they don't pay the bill. If they need me to be reachable for video calls, they should give me a work phone or a solid laptop. Putting that on my own stuff is asking for trouble.

I used to think that was fine, but you're totally right.
