Shoutout to the time I picked the ugly couch over the nice one
So I was at this furniture outlet in Tacoma last month, trying to decide between a dark gray microfiber couch and this hideous plaid one that was half the price at $300. I almost walked out with the gray one because it looked more put-together, but then the salesman mentioned the plaid one was from a hotel liquidation sale and had only been used for 3 months. I figured why not take a gamble, worst case I'd just throw a cover over it. Turns out the plaid fabric is way more stain resistant than I expected, and my dog's muddy paws just wipe right off. Have any of you ever picked the uglier option and had it work out way better?

The plaid one sounds like it has that old school fabric that just doesn't quit haha. My grandma had a plaid couch like that for 30 years and it still looked new when she finally got rid of it. What kind of dog do you have that's leaving muddy paws everywhere? I'm curious if the plaid pattern hides the dog hair better than a solid color would too. Seems like those hotel liquidation deals are seriously underrated if you know what to look for.

My buddy got a plaid couch from a hotel auction and his golden retriever sheds like crazy on it. He said you can barely see the fur unless you really look close, plus the dark lines in the pattern hide the mud stains from the dog's paws way better than a solid color would. His grandma's old couch story is basically what convinced him to try it.

Start with the plaid pattern actually making the fur and stains more noticeable because the dog hair clings to the rough fabric and the muddy paw prints smear across all those different colors and lines. Plus that old school fabric your grandma had is probably not the same cheap stuff they use on hotel liquidation couches now.
