That time I picked the wrong checkout line at Target and the cashier recognized my old library card photo
I had to decide between the self checkout with no line or the regular lane with one person. Picked the regular lane because I needed to buy milk with a torn $5 bill. Turns out the cashier was this girl I went to middle school with. She squinted at my name on the card and goes "Wendy Kelly? You're the one who photobombed every school picture with bunny ears right?" And I just stood there holding a gallon of milk and a bag of frozen peas while she laughed. My face went so red I think the milk curdled. Has anyone else had a random person from like 15 years ago pop up at the worst possible moment?

Ngl I actually think that's kind of a cute story and you're way overthinking it. She probably just thought it was funny and didn't mean anything bad by it.

Had a buddy run into his old high school principal at a bar bathroom once. The guy walked in, saw him at the urinal, and goes "Hey, you're the kid who set off the fire alarm with a microwave popcorn bag." We still roast him about it ten years later.

Hold up though, is it really that cute? She brought up bunny ears from middle school like that's the main thing she remembers about you. That's not really a warm memory, that's her calling out some goofy thing you did when you were twelve. I get that she might've just been trying to make conversation but it's still a little weird she went straight to that instead of anything else. And you're standing there with frozen peas and a ripped five dollar bill, not exactly the moment you want to be reminded of your dorkiest phase. I'm not saying she was being mean on purpose but people don't always realize when they're making someone feel small. Sometimes a story sounds cute because it happened to someone else, not you.
