That time I waved back at a stranger who wasn't waving at me, then fell off a curb

So last Saturday I was walking to the bus stop on 5th and Main, feeling good because my new sneakers finally broke in. This guy across the street waves big and I wave back with this huge grin, but then he's hugging someone behind me. My face went hot, I tried to play it cool by looking at my phone, and then my foot caught the edge of the curb and I went down hard. Landed right on my knee, phone skidded 10 feet, and the couple both saw it and asked if I was okay. I said 'totally fine' and limped away, but my knee hurt for 3 days. Anyone else ever turn a simple wave into a full public performance?
