The barista at Blue Bottle called me out for ordering the same drink 8 days in a row
I went to get my usual oat milk latte last Tuesday and she handed it to me before I even said anything and then asked if I was okay because I always get the same thing and I had to switch to drip coffee for a month just to avoid the awkwardness, has anyone else ever been memorized by a coffee shop employee?

Yesterday I counted and realized I've been going to the same deli for 4 years and they still don't know my name. But they hand me my bagel with cream cheese before I even open my mouth. It's like we're in a weird relationship where they know everything about my habits but nothing about me as a person. That's the thing with being memorized by a coffee shop or any place you go to regularly. You become their background character and they become yours. We're all just NPCs in each other's daily routines at this point.

The eighth day is when they get a free toaster or something, right? Sounds like you need to start a loyalty program with a fake name.

Disagree completely. The whole point of giving companies fake names is that you're not actually signing up for anything real. You're just gaming the system for a one-time discount or a freebie. If you start building up loyalty points under a fake name, eventually you'll want to redeem them and that's when the whole house of cards falls apart. They'll ask for ID or proof of purchase and you'll be stuck explaining why your name is Mickey Mouse. Plus most loyalty programs tie rewards to real spending habits, not just showing up on the eighth day. A fake name just means you're leaving money on the table that you'll never actually collect.
