The coffee shop open mic that made me want to crawl under the table

Went to this lil cafe in Austin last Friday for their open mic night, thought it'd be chill. Some guy got up and started doing spoken word about his ex, and mid-poem he locked eyes with ME and said 'you know who you are.' I was 3 sips into a latte and literally froze, spilled it on my jeans. Then he ended with 'just kidding, that was for the barista' and the whole room went silent for like 10 seconds. Has anyone else been accidentally pulled into a stranger's performance like that?
