The library hold list that humbled my reading streak
I was so proud of my 40 book goal last spring, bragging to my book club in Austin about my queue. Then I realized I had 14 holds on Libby all coming due the same Tuesday, and I panicked like it was finals week. I tried reading faster, skimming chapters, even listening at 2x speed, but my brain just turned to mush. What finally worked was switching to shorter books for a month, like novellas and essay collections that take two days tops. It felt like cheating at first, but I cleared 8 holds without losing my place in any story. Now I schedule my holds in batches of 3, spaced a week apart, and my reading feels like a hobby again. Has anyone else hit a wall with library queue overload? How do you space your holds without losing the momentum?

Honestly the real fix is turning off the auto-download on Libby so you're not tied to that Tuesday deadline, I do that now and just borrow when I'm actually ready.
